“Poteet, Texas is the Strawberry Capital of Texas,” said City of Poteet Public Works Director Ruben Quintana. “This tower was originally erected back in 1973 and was in much need of repair. The paint was very faded, dilapidated, and there were rust stains down the stem.”

“We are a small municipality and for any municipality or any system who struggles with balancing the budget, as we all do, they were able to work out a very fair and cost-effective plan for us,” said Quintana. “A payment plan for our contract.”

“Again, it is something that fits in our budget and they were willing to discuss and see what we need to do really make it fit for us and that was a big contributor to this success,” said Quintana.

“The crew from Maguire reported out quickly. We were able to isolate the tower when they came out,” said Quintana. “They did all the metalwork, sandblasted, repainted, recoated the inside, and also the main thing for us is that this thing remained a strawberry on the outside. That is a pretty big deal for us.”

“The original paint scheme didn’t have as much detail as this one has,” said Quintana. “It didn’t have a lot of the shading that you see or a lot of that 3D look. The leaves were very plain on the top and now as you can see, it is a big improvement!”

“For me, I take a lot of pride in this stuff along with my team,” said Quintana. “We are all happy to see this thing done. With Maguire, we are also going to have our other tanks and towers rehabbed and metal work is done.”

“A couple of comments that I have personally heard has been just overjoyed. They are happy that it finally got done when it has been so long,” said Quintana. “Two is that we have something to be proud of again. I have also heard that I think they found the right guys this time. I’ve even heard that comment. They did it right this time!”

“It definitely takes a lot of the stress and strains off me personally because I can rest a little easier knowing that if there is an issue that comes up, whether it be a year from now or five years from now, whatever it is, I know I can just go to my contact at Maguire and they are going to take care of us,” said Quintana.

“The tower came out better than even I expected,” said Quintana. “I expected a great tower and this has even exceeded that!”
